Mandela MTB Dash coverage

Hello all riders that participated in the Mandela Day Marathon MTB Dash races on Saturday 25th August

We are pleased to invite you to see yourself in action on either the 10km, 21km or 42km race depending on which race you rode in. Unlike other race edits where there is no time to capture all the riders, the KZN MTB organisers in collaboration with 360Sport thought it a good idea to give you the opportunity to revel in a personal 15 seconds of glory. We trust you will enjoy seeing yourself on the screen and maybe compare your effort to that of the other riders.

The edit is coded in a maximum of 3 colours being Green, Blue and Orange and hope you were able to identify the colour of the marker as you sped by the camera, if not, well take a look and find your ride. Click on the appropriate link to access the appropriate video.

NB ..please select the 720P quality setting button if you are viewing on a laptop or Smart TV. Users on a Smart phone should be ok with using the 480P setting …..see bottom right of the screen for the settings option.

Thank you for your participation and see you in 2019

International News

After season-long competitions that saw the most consistent athletes crowned UCI World Cup winners, the best event organisers are also being rewarded.

Stakeholders at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano, the BMX Supercross World Cup and the UCI Trials World Cup have voted for the best event of each of the series, taking into account different criteria including organisation, venue, course/track and atmosphere. The winners are….

UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano

A long season spanning five months and taking place in eight countries saw cross-country Olympic (XCO) and downhill (DHI) specialists compete in top-class conditions.

Downhill: Fort William (GBR)

This legendary spot in the Scottish Highlands wins the “best event” vote for 2016. Also host of the 2007 UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships, Fort William organised a World Cup stopover for the 15th time this year.

KZN Cycling Development

For many years now, Pietermaritzburg and the province of Kwazulu – Natal has been recognised worldwide as a leader in the staging of major cycling events and since 2009, Pietermaritzburg has been recognised as Africa’s Bike City. In fact, the region is now recognised worldwide as having staged the most varied international events in history - a great accolade for the city and the region.

After staging 10 x UCI World Cups, 6 x UCI World Championships and 3 x Continental Championships in various disciplines as well as a host of other major international road cycling events, it was decided that the focus of activities should switch to development programmes and the unearthing of new talent from the region of KZN for the future. Thus the KZN Cycling Development programme came into being and is being undertaken in conjunction with the KZN Department of Sport & Recreation who provide the vast bulk of the funding that allows for such activities to take place and also with Cycling South Africa.
